Historians’ View
Maxwell’s account of the dollar bill’s Great Seal is a long-standing element of conspiracy literature. The seal was designed in 1782 and the pyramid side was added to the bill in 1935; the historical record does show Henry Wallace advocated for it, and Wallace did have interests in Theosophy. The Annuit Coeptis phrase translates more precisely as he has favored our undertakings, a reference to Providence, not to Weishaupt’s Illuminati. The Bavarian Illuminati was indeed founded on May 1st, 1776, a fact found in any encyclopedia, but historians do not regard the modern dollar bill’s design as evidence of Illuminati control.
